Iain Hadwin is a Senior Manager – S2O Process Excellence Initiatives for Bristol Myers Squibb. Iain started experiencing Motor Tics from the age of 7 but at the time Doctors couldn’t offer an explanation for his symptoms. He moved into the world of work still experiencing tics with no explanation until the age of 25, at which time it started to affect his mental health. As a result, Iain was diagnosed with Tourette’s syndrome, with the use of medication the tics were reduced but more importantly he was able to explain to people what they were and be open about it both at work and in his personal life.
7 years ago Iain joined BMS and over the last few years, the company has really focused on becoming a disability-focused employer and created the Differently-Abled Workplace Network (DAWN) which he joined as he was able to give first-hand experiences of the workplace with a disability.
