June 4 | 10:30 am – 12:00 pm

Trigger warning: suicide.
Navigating the ‘S’ Word
Steve Phillip from The Jordan Legacy will bring his experience, insights and positivity to our conversation on suicide.
He will discuss what can lead someone to decide that suicide is the only solution to an often temporary problem, and how to support that individual by opening up an often difficult conversation. We will discuss this from both a colleague and service user perspective.
This session will include how to ask constructive questions, how to listen effectively and how to signpost to appropriate types of support. The talk will conclude with tips on how to look after our own wellbeing and mental health.
R;pple
Luke Haseldine, Senior B2B Executive at R;pple Suicide Prevention will talk about the importance of implementing this tool within your organisations.
R;pple is an interceptive tool designed to present a visual prompt when a person searches for harmful keywords or phrases relating to the topic of self-harm or suicide. These phrases include any words or terminology which have been identified as displaying potentially damaging online content.
The R;pple tool will soon be enhanced to address a broad range of mental health conditions and life challenges linked to increased suicide risk, including substance misuse, gambling addiction, financial struggles, eating disorders, domestic abuse, LGBTQIA+ struggles and more.
This event will operate using the ‘Chatham House’ rule.
