The Access to Work scheme
Access to Work is a publicly funded employment support grant scheme to support disabled people start or stay in work. It can provide practical and financial support for people who have a disability or physical or mental health condition. Support can be provided where someone needs support or adjustments beyond what the employer can provide.
More information about Access to Work can be found on the UK Government website.
The demand for Access to Work has increased over the years and it is experiencing a backlog of applications which contribute to lengthy waiting times for applications. Spend on Access to Work has also increased. BDF believe Access to Work is a world-leading asset and should be protected and invested in.
Along with our members, we have been working to understanding the use, challenges, and successes of Access to Work since 2018. On this page, you can find some our papers about Access to Work, including information about our Access to Work Forum for members.
