Introduction to disability in the workplace course

This introductory training module will help to ensure that you are focusing on the right areas to support disabled employees and staff. The course will cover the importance of considering the needs of disabled people at the earliest stages while developing best practice approaches for your business. We will provide opportunities to discuss case studies and scenarios common to many organisations to provide practical insights for you to take away to use immediately in your business.

This course is recommended to anyone who would like to learn more about disability in the workplace and how to support disabled colleagues, staff and customers.

Course delegates will have the opportunity to learn best practice and work through case studies and sample scenarios from previous work with BDF partners to provide practical insights to take away for immediately immediate use in their role.

Learning objectives

This training will help you to:

  • Understand the prevalence of disability and how that may impact your organisation.
  • Learn the organisation’s legal responsibilities to support disabled candidates, colleagues and customers.
  • Understand how to identify barriers and their impacts on the workforce.
  • Learn how to remove barriers by making reasonable adjustments.
  • Identify how you can ensure a holistic approach promoting best practice in your organisation.
  • Know where to go for more information and support.

This course is for a maximum of 20 participants and will run for 3 hours with breaks.
