The Disability Standard is a whole-organisation disability management audit developed by Business Disability Forum to help organisations measure and improve on performance for disabled customers, clients or service users, employees and stakeholders. It enables businesses to understand how disability-smart your organisation is across the whole of your business.
Undertaking an audit, carried out by one of our disability consultants, will help you:
- have an understanding in very practical terms what ‘good’ looks like across your organisation, what is and isn’t working, and what you need to do in order to get it right.
- recognise where you are doing well.
- have impartial, objective evidence to inform business improvement, and allocate resources accordingly.
- identify and minimise disability-related legal and reputational risk and provide tangible recommendations and solutions to enhance practice, policy and process within your organisation.
Our consultants will carry this out across ten areas of your business: commitment, know how, adjustments, recruitment, retention, products and services, suppliers and partners, communication, premises, and ICT.
How long does it take?
This is up to you. You may want to us to carry out a full audit or you may want to focus on just one or two components such as adjustments or recruitment. When you contact us to discuss your interest in the Disability Standard, we will discuss your requirements and expected project timelines with you.
How much does it cost?
This depends on how you want to complete the audit, the level of support you would like from us, and the additional audit options (such as employee surveys and process reviews) that you choose.
