Peer Learning Network

More businesses than ever are now seeing the very real imperative to become “Disability Smart” and the multiple benefits to be reaped from being truly inclusive, both in attracting disabled talent and meeting the needs of disabled customers. For businesses who are just beginning to think about disability inclusion, it can feel daunting or even overwhelming trying to work out how and where to start. For those who are further advanced in their Disability Smart journey, it can also feel challenging trying to identify priorities for development and to drive lasting change. 

Our next Peer Learning Network will be taking place on the 14 December at 2:00pm. 

The focus of this session is recruitment, what disability is (and is not) and what this means for getting the people you need into your organisation. 

Within the session we will aim to cover the following: 

  • How to consider and talk about disability throughout the application and recruitment process. 
  • Making adjustments throughout the end-to-end recruitment process. 
  • What is disability in the Equality Act 2010 versus what it is in practice. 

Guest speakers include Jane Hatton, founder, and CEO at Evenbreak and Emily Jackson, Senior Advice Service Officer at Business Disability Forum who will be speaking on how to support inclusive recruitment within your organisations. This meeting will also include an opportunity for participants to breakout into discussion groups facilitated by Business Disability Forum colleagues to talk about their own experiences and approaches. 

Places are restricted to a maximum of 25 delegates to enable rich discussion and information sharing and will be offered on a first come, first served basis to new Business Disability Forum Members and Partners.  

Our meetings operate using the ‘Chatham House’ rule.  

This meeting will take place via Zoom and will include live captions.
