Disability Smart Learning and Development Award
The winners in this category were HSBC.
Case study
The Disability Smart Learning and Development Award recognises organisations that have created innovative, engaging, and most of all, inclusive and accessible learning and development solutions.
HSBC developed a unique and high-quality accessibility awareness eLearning course to upskill their staff. The course offered real insight to the everyday experiences of disabled people through the “Rachel looking for love” film and documentaries.
HSBC introduced their accessibility trainers to specialist eLearning producers to create the “Rachel looking for love” film and documentaries, and simulations of accessibility scenarios from a user perspective.
The result is HSBC Accessibility Hub – an accessible, inspirational, impactful Accessibility Awareness eLearning course to upskill everyone.
The Accessibility Hub is the “hero project” for HSBC’s programme to make all HSBC eLearning accessible. It helped extend the set of accessibility standards the HSBC Learning and Development team are following to ensure that all content is accessible. It also allowed HSBC accessibility staff to develop more expertise in accessible eLearning so they could support the charity Scope to turn their classroom style employability training into a fully accessible e-learning platform, which can be used by many more disabled job seekers whom Scope are supporting.
