Ian is a long-standing senior access consultant with Freeney Williams Ltd. He started his career in this field in 2000 specialising in the built environment. During that time he has undertaken a broad range of consultancy and audit projects. He is a leading member of several access groups including one for the railways and for The O2 arena in London.
Ian has worked throughout the UK, Ireland and other parts of the world in a broad range of sectors and has worked on many differing types of environments. These include new and older office buildings, university campus’s, listed buildings, outdoor spaces, retail, hospitality, museums and theatres.
The work Ian undertakes ranges from being part of the design team helping to get accessibility right before construction starts, this can be for a new build or for refurbishment. It is far cheaper to get the design right at the start rather than change it later. Undertaking access audits of existing buildings or sites, this helps businesses identify barriers to access for both customers and staff. Finally training, if you want to know how to carryout your own audits Ian can give you training on how that.
Ian holds Nebosh Level 3 certificates in Occupational Health & Safety and Fire Safety & Risk Management and which expertise he brings to his access work. He is also a Consultant member of the National Register of Access Consultants.
