Our policy work
As an organisation focused on disability inclusion and business management, Business Disability Forum works with businesses and people with disabilities and long-term conditions to present an evidence base for why change must happen, and to provide pragmatic solutions that work for disabled people, business, and the wider economy. Our policy work, therefore, gathers original insight from our unique position as the body who link disabled people, business, and Government to inform Government inquiries and health, social, and economic policymaking.
Our policy work influences government and business so that people with disabilities can have barrier-free experiences as candidates, employees, customers, and users of services. We do this by working with businesses and people with disabilities and long-term conditions to present an evidence base for why change must happen and to provide pragmatic solutions that work for disabled people, business, and the economy.
Our policy activity includes a number of activities includes the following:
- Responding to Government or other calls for evidence to inform a debate or Parliamentary session.
- Identifying a finding in our research work which we establish as needing to be presented to policymakers or Government.Â
- Being an expert adviser to policymakers on aspects of disability, health, and employment.
- Contributing to guidance or information development on topics related to health and disability as it affects the UK economy.
