Our disability inclusion journey so far

Guest blog from Lloyds Banking Group

Lloyds Banking Group is thrilled to be sponsoring Business Disability Forum’s Annual Conference ‘Are you being served? Welcoming disabled consumers’. We have been working with Business Disability Forum for a number of years and they have been a valued partner and source of support throughout our disability inclusion journey.

Lloyds Banking Group

At Lloyds Banking Group we are committed to providing an inclusive workplace for those with disabilities, long-term conditions and neurodiversities, whether visible or non-visible and providing accessible and inclusive products and services to better support our customers with disabilities.

Our ambition is to be a leading UK business for Inclusion and Diversity. Lloyds Banking Group is committed to creating an inclusive and diverse culture where anyone with a disability or long-term condition feels valued, understood and supported to reach their full potential. We’ve been recognised for the important steps we have taken in regards to building an organisation where disability inclusion is the centre of everything we do. Accreditations include: Business Disability Forum Gold Standard (now Disability Smart) award and our Disability Confident Leader Status. These acknowledge and recognise our inclusive culture and the support we provide for our colleagues. We support our people in a variety of ways, including through workplace adjustments and our guaranteed interview scheme.

We work hard to raise awareness around the importance of physical and mental wellbeing across our organisation, encouraging each other to have open honest conversations around disabilities and long-term conditions, and to use the resources available to support them.

We recognise that we are still very much on this journey with plenty left to do. Although, this is an exciting milestone for us as part of our strive to continue to create more inclusive workplaces for our colleagues with disabilities we are thrilled to have recently opened our first changing places facility.  We are pleased that as part of our wider community work this facility has also been made available to the general public, and is listed on the Changing Places official map to help raise awareness of this facility, and to help it be located when needed. Where possible Changing Places facilities will be part of our Office Design Standards and there are plans for further installs in Bristol and Halifax as part of site refurbishments.

Moving forward, we look forward to continuing to work together with Business Disability Forum and its members in a collective effort in order to create an even more inclusive society for everyone.
