Georgia Silk

Senior Diversity and Inclusion Advisor, Shell

Georgia is a 30 year HR professional with Shell, who has seen the light and come to the Diversity and Inclusion field fairly recently! She has had the privilege of living and working in a number of countries with Shell, including the UK (her country of birth); Syria;  Canada (her adopted country!), USA, and most recently the Netherlands. Her professional experience encompasses working across a range of HR disciplines supporting different aspects of the oil and gas integrated value chain, with the majority of her time spent as an HR business partner for both upstream and downstream businesses; this included supporting offshore exploration and production assets in the North Sea, as well as Retail businesses in the Americas.

In her current role in the Shell global Diversity and Inclusion team, Georgia has been working to progress amongst others, the disability agenda in Shell, and has played an instrumental role in developing and implementing Shell’s global workplace adjustments process. She has most recently relocated to the Netherlands with her husband who also works for Shell, and together they try to keep track of the movements of their 3 university student children. She is excited to be working closely with BDF to develop tools and standards that are relevant and helpful to global organisations, and is keen to learn from the experiences of other organisations about their own journeys to becoming disability confident.
