Dr Sally Witcher, OBE

Chief Executive Officer of Inclusion Scotland

Sally Witcher became the Chief Executive Officer of Inclusion Scotland in 2013. Previously she was a freelance Consultant and Care Inspectorate Board Member, 2011-2015. From 2006-2010 she was a senior civil servant in the Office for Disability Issues, DWP, U.K. Government. Before that she chaired the Disability Employment Advisory Committee (a U.K. Government Non Departmental Public Body) and worked in consultancy and academia, based in Edinburgh. Her doctoral thesis was on diversity and social inclusion, later revised and published (Policy Press). In the 1990s she was the Director of the Child Poverty Action Group (U.K.). She has been a member of many government and research advisory groups, including for the Centre for Analysis of Social Exclusion, London School of Economics. She is currently a member of the Scottish Government’s Poverty and Inequality Commission and Deputy Chair of the Expert Advisory Group on Disability and Carers’ Benefits. She was awarded an OBE in 2006 for services to disabled people.
