Virgin Media wins disabled talent recruitment award

Business Disability Forum Member Virgin Media won the Reasonable Adjustments in Recruitment Award at the Recruitment Industry Disability Initiative (RIDI) Awards earlier this month. Launched in 2014, the RIDI Awards aim to celebrate and showcase companies that are making progress in removing the barriers for disabled job-seekers.

The judges of the award said:"This entry was an overwhelmingly impressive case study in how to positively transform the candidate experience into a truly great one. Virgin Media demonstrates the impact of thoughtful engagement to enable talent, implementing an inclusive, confident and sustainable approach to the provision of workplace adjustments. This is an excellent example that many other organisations should consider following in order to completely transform their approach to reasonable adjustments in the workplace."

Not a lot of businesses give that message. This though, is just the start. Since 2017, Virgin Media has been transforming its disabled customer and employee experience. This includes a dedicated focus on workplace adjustments and this award reflects Virgin Media’s efforts to ensure the very start of a candidate’s experience with the company is positive – this has included close collaboration with their volume recruiter TMP.
