Meet the host and keynote speaker for our Disability-smart Awards 2017

We are pleased to introduce our host and keynote speaker for the 2017 Disability-smart Awards, taking place on Thursday, 16 November 2017 from 2:30pm - 5:00pm.

The Disability-smart Awards are generously hosted by Deutsche Bank and exist to recognise companies that demonstrate an outstanding commitment to employing, working with and doing business with disabled people.


Hosting on the day:

Geoff Adams-Spink, Director, Adams-Spink Ltd

Geoff was the BBC's Age & Disability Correspondent, covering issues of relevance to older and disabled people for radio, television and the BBC News website.

Geoff currently chairs a pan-European federation of organisations for people affected by congenital limb difference. The European Dysmelia Reference Information Centre (EDRIC) has 24 member organisations in 17 countries and represents around 5,000 people with the variety of rare conditions that are collectively known as 'dysmelia'.

Geoff is also a trustee of Disability Rights UK.

Speaking on the day:

Mark Lomas, Head of Equality, Diversity & Inclusion at HS2 (High Speed Rail 2)

Mark has delivered numerous diversity and inclusion projects for organisations, including The Financial Reporting Council, Groupama Insurance, The BBC, The Law Society, Sheffield University, NHS Clinical Commissioning Group Boards, ITV, and The Bermuda Human Rights Commission.

Mark has designed and developed numerous training courses, workshops, toolkits and D&I resources, including the Shaw Trust Tackle Mental Health Website,

Mark said: “I hope to see you all at the Disability Smart Awards. It’s a fantastic opportunity to learn about best practice and celebrate the work being done to accelerate disability inclusion.

The range of entries has been superb and I hope even more organisations will submit entries in future years.”

Organisations across different business sectors have entered the Awards to shout about their achievements within disability best practice. All winning entries will have demonstrated how their initiatives have had a direct effect on their disabled employees and customers.
