Construction and engineering industries focus on disability and mental health this November

Health and safety organisation British Safety Council is calling on employers to commit themselves to protecting their workers’ mental wellbeing and investing in line managers’ mental health training. While Mike Robinson, Chief Executive of the British Safety Council acknowledges that: “The also stated “there is no room for complacency” as “only 43 per cent of people with mental health issues are in regular employment, compared with 74 per cent of the general population (NHS England).

Statement: Greater clarity needed from Budget Statement says Business Disability Forum

Responding to the Chancellor’s Budget statement on 29 October, Diane Lightfoot, CEO, Business Disability Forum, said: “Research published by Business Disability Forum earlier this month showed the need for better mental health support to be made available for young people, with two-thirds feeling unable to talk about their mental health needs at work or in their place of study. The mental health crisis support announced in Chancellor's statement is a step in the right direction, but we must ensure more is done to offer support to young people as they transition into the world of work or higher education.
