Having sensitive conversations with colleagues

Video learning

The module is designed to equip line managers with the knowledge they need to prepare for, and confidently accomplish a sensitive or even difficult conversation with a colleague about their mental health.

In this module, participants will learn how to:

  • Support or signpost to appropriate support for a colleague with a mental health condition;
  • Spot the signs that a colleague may be experiencing mental ill health;
  • Plan and prepare for a constructive conversation with a colleague about their mental health; and
  • Carry out an effective conversation with a colleague about their mental health.

This module also includes videos of a conversation between a line manager and employee based on a real life scenario.

We would encourage all BDF Partners and Members to also access at no charge the Managing Difficult Conversations guide generously sponsored by BDF Partner KPMG. Please visit our Disability Standard member resources portal to download a copy of the guide.
