Press release: Business Disability Forum appoints Simon Malcom as Interim Managing Director

13 November 2014

London, UK – Business Disability Forum (BDF) has announced the appointment of Simon Malcom to the executive team as Interim Managing Director. From 17 November, Simon will lead the operations of the business while Chief Executive and Founder, Susan Scott-Parker, will build the profile of the newly established organisation, business disability international (bdi).

Susan will remain in her current position as BDF Chief Executive, offering continued strong strategic direction and senior executive coaching and development. Simon will have day-to-day management and operational responsibilities, and will ensure BDF continues to build its capacity to influence while maintaining delivery of the unique BDF portfolio of services and support which make it easier for its Partners and members to become disability-smart organisations.

Simon joins BDF after spending the last three years holding key executive roles for national charities including Woodland Trust and Guide Dogs. Prior to this, he was Managing Director of a communications consultancy, following ten years in the retail and sport industries.

Susan Scott-Parker, Chief Executive and Founder of BDF said:

"We welcome Simon to Business Disability Forum and look forward to benefiting from his executive leadership and communications consultancy expertise. His appointment is crucial to the continued success of BDF and to that of business disability international (bdi). We have 140 multinationals in BDF membership: Simon’s appointment provides a great opportunity to enable our UK based global members, who have pioneered business to business disability networks, to get the support they need from global HQ and to encourage a disability confident global marketplace.

I look forward to working with him and am delighted that we continue to build our capacity to work to the mutual benefit of business and people with disabilities."
