Christopher Watkins

Senior Disability Consultant

Christopher joined Business Disability forum in 2012, having worked in learning and development since completing his post-graduate studies. Having acquired first-hand experience offering guidance to HR professionals on complex cases as part of BDF’s Advice Service, in his current role Christopher leads BDF’s Learning and Development team, involving activities from conducting learning needs analyses in a range of complex organisations, to designing and delivering L&D solutions from face-to-face training, written and video guidance and e-learning, and evaluating the accessibility and effectiveness of general L&D tools used by BDF members and Partners.

Christopher also leads on mental health for BDF, and has over 10 years’ experience as a non-clinical volunteer working with people experiencing mental distress or with long-term mental health conditions. He has a particular interest in mental health as a diversity and inclusion issue, and regularly speaks at industry events and conferences about his work helping employers build an enabling and inclusive workplace for people with long-term mental health conditions.

Recent and regular projects include:

  • Establishing and upskilling a network of mental health allies or buddies across multiple UK and EU locations for an international bank.
  • Designing and delivering four days’ intensive training on disability management for the HR team of a national broadcaster.
  • Designing a training programme on welcoming disabled customers for over 3000 contact centre staff at a major financial services company.
  • Delivering workshops on inclusive communications in the UK and Middle East.
